According to the specific horror movie posters I have analysed, I have noticed that mostly all horror posters follow the same patterns. the three posters I have analysed are based on the sub-genre I am focusing on.
I have found a few differences and similarities between the horror genre poster and non-horror genre posters. one of the main key difference between a horror poster and a non-horror poster is colour.
Horror posters use darker and duller colours than for example a comedy movie poster. As for example the colour red connotes to the devil and evil it'll be used in horror posters and not a colour such as yellow which connotes happiness.
Most posters have a strapline. This tell us a bit about the film because it gives us a slight hint as the strapline might be a quote from the film. Also most films use an image on the poster that relates to the movie. They might take a screenshot of a scene and use it or the could do a special photo shoot for the main image on the poster.
This needs to be posted after the horror poster analysis Shweta.
ReplyDeleteMore needed on specific details found in horror posters. You state that they use strap lines - what kind of strap lines are used in horror posters? Do they generally address the audience? Do they generally make mention of dark and negative things? Are certain words common?
Again, for the image, you state that the image relates to the film but you need to consider what similarities images for horror posters share - are they generally of people? Are they of settings? What kind of settings? What kind of weather is generally used in the background? What kind of objects and mise en scene do they use? Much more needed.
